However, DQS cannot always verify that a visitor is over 16. We therefore advise parents to be involved in their children's online activities, in order to avoid collecting data about children without parental consent. The starting point for the storage of personal data is that all data should not be kept longer than necessary. DQS will therefore store personal data no longer than strictly necessary to realise the purposes for which the data are collected. Exceptions to this are data that we need to keep for longer because the law requires us to do so.

Where we store your data
We store your data within the European Economic Area ("EEA"). However, some of the data we collect may be transferred to or stored at a destination outside the EEA, for example because one of our third-party service providers is based there. Where this occurs, we will ensure that this is done in a secure and lawful manner. In such cases, DQS will take appropriate measures to ensure that your data is protected to the fullest extent possible, such as agreeing with the recipients of standard data protection provisions established by the European Commission. If you have any questions about this, you can contact our Data Protection Officer for that purpose. You can do this by sending an email to privacy@dqshoes.com.

DQS does not share, sell or trade your data to third parties and only provides it if it is necessary for the performance of our agreement with you (including for billing and collection purposes) or to comply with a legal requirement.

However, the personal data you provide may in some cases be processed by third parties. We only share the data necessary for the task performed for us by the external service provider. The personal data you provide may be transferred to the following third parties:

  • payment services, collection agencies and credit reference agencies;
  • ICT service providers such as hosting providers and website developers;
  • technical service providers;
  • review or research platforms for web shops;
  • advertising and marketing partners;
  • logistics companies;
  • DQS partners;
  • government.

These third parties are bound by contractual and other legal obligations to treat your personal data confidentially and to respect your privacy. They therefore only have access to the personal data they need to carry out their work. If required, we will enter into a processing agreement with these third parties.

Sometimes we need to transfer personal data to the government. This may occur first of all if certain government institutions need this data for the performance of their tasks, such as the tax authorities. The police or judiciary may also need certain data in case of fraud or abuse. Finally, certain regulators may access personal data in the context of an investigation.

Use of personal data within the DQS group of companies
Many systems and technologies are used jointly within the DQS group of companies. This gives us the opportunity, to offer you a more beneficial, better, more secure, more uniform and more interesting service. Therefore, those companies and departments within the DQS Group are granted access to your data, which they need to fulfil our contractual and legal obligations or to fulfil certain functions within the DQS Group.

Partners in the DQS platform
As part of the DQS partner programme, we offer other suppliers (our DQS partners) the opportunity to sell their products (the DQS partner products) via our website and/or platform. Within the scope of the DQS partner programme, our website and platform serves as a sales platform, on which sales contracts are transferred. "Sales and shipping by our partner" as well as the name of the relevant DQS partner product will then be displayed under the relevant DQS partner product.

When you order a DQS partner product, the product is shipped directly by the relevant DQS partner. For this purpose, we transfer your purchase data to the DQS partner. In this context, we only provide these personal data that are actually necessary to deliver the purchased product to you, namely your name, delivery address and language preference. If this is necessary for delivery, e.g. to arrange a delivery appointment, the relevant sales partner will also receive your telephone number.

Even if you purchase a product from a DQS partner, DQS remains responsible for processing your data. Your data will neither be processed jointly with a DQS partner nor on behalf of a DQS partner.

Note that DQS partners have their own privacy policy. You can usually find these on the relevant website of the DQS partner in question. DQS is not responsible for the privacy policy and data processing practices of the DQS partners.

Use of personal data for optimal shopping experience and advertising First of all, we make sure that our website works properly so that you can shop optimally. To do this, when you visit our website, we collect your IP address, data about your internet browser, any language settings and information about the settings of the operating system of the computer or mobile device you use to visit us. To recommend products to you, we use general customer behaviour and statistics.

By email
DQS regularly has offers, special promotions and news we want to share with you. We are happy to share these by email. If you have created an account with us and placed one or more orders, we will email you suggestions, information about our products and services based on your purchases and review requests, unless you have indicated that you do not wish to receive them.

Personalised advertisements outside our website
DQS and its advertising partners use your data to serve personalised advertisements to you through DQS's services and on other providers' websites and apps. As part of this, DQS uses common internet technologies. This enables us to advertise in a more targeted way, preferably to show you only those advertisements and offers that are actually relevant to you. This enables us to precisely tailor the needs of our users in line with personalisation and the discovery of new products, and to keep you interested in our services through a personalised shopping experience.

The advertising formats used by DQS and advertising partners of DQS include presentations on our website and app, ads in social networks (e.g. Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, YouTube Video Ads) and advertising space, which are transmitted through the online advertising networks used by DQS.

DQS' advertising partners do not receive any data that allows them to contact you or identify you without your explicit consent. If you have consented to the use of click and search behaviour for personalised ads outside our website, we may recognise you outside our website thanks to cookies and the ad number associated with the device you are browsing with. If you do not consent to personalised ads outside our website, you will still see ads, including from DQS, only the ads will not be based on the data we have from you.

Our advertising partners only receive anonymous, encrypted reports from us containing information about the effectiveness and scope of the advertising activities we carry out. From these reports, we can, for example, find out how our advertising activities affected sales among different customer groups.
